The Global EdTech Startups Awards is an initiative led by a group of prominent education innovation organizations from across the world. The competition’s goal is to identify, highlight and recognize the world’s most promising EdTech startups, those which present a potential for groundbreaking learning solutions. We wish to give voice and space to the exciting, growing trends in innovation and investments in EdTech, currently arising in different parts of the world.
The SXSWedu® Conference & Festival fosters innovation in learning by hosting a diverse and energetic community of stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds in education. The four-day event affords registrants open access to engaging sessions, interactive workshops, hands on learning experiences, film screenings, early stage startups and a host of networking opportunities. By providing a platform for collaboration, SXSWedu works to promote creativity and social change.

Tim Romero is a Tokyo-based entrepreneur, podcaster and author who has started several companies since coming to Japan more than 20 years ago. Tim hosts the Disrupting Japan podcast and is deeply involved in Japan's startup community as an investor, founder and mentor.
Riki Yoshinaga is a Venture Partner of Fresco Capital and is involved in all aspects of investment and operations with a specific focus on Japan. He is also co-founder and Partner of Jenerate Partners, a Japan-entry focused incubator. Previously, as General Manager at K2D in Tokyo, Riki spearheaded regional expansion for both consumer products and technology ventures entering Japan and Asian markets for the first time.
Riki graduated from Harvard University with a B.A. in Economics. While at Harvard, Riki was a member of the Crimson football team. In his spare time, Riki enjoys kickboxing.
欧州投資銀行の投資銀行本部にてM&Aのアドバイザリー業務に従事したのち、Triple Junctionに参画。同社では、主に欧米ベンチャー企業及びVCの日本市場参入に関する戦略アドバイザーとして戦略立案及び実行に携わり、クライアント企業の現地COOのような役割を担うことで、事業のローンチ・ローカライズ、国内企業との事業提携や資本業務提携等を日々手掛けている。これ以前は、アメリカのシンクタンク等で政策系のアナリストとしてリサーチ業務に携わる。慶應義塾大学商学部卒、米国William and Mary大学・公共政策学修士。
